The Needles Gold Project is located in the State of Nevada, USA. Nevada is considered to be a “gold hotspot” having produced over 215 Moz since 1835.
Needles is located approximately 100km southeast of the 15 Moz Kinross Round Mountain open cut gold mine, considered to be one of the world’s largest epithermal, low-sulphidation volcanic-hosted gold deposit. The Project was historically mined for epithermal gold and silver mineralisation in the early 1900s and subsequent geophysical exploration has identified the potential to host an orebody of similar size and structure to the Round Mountain Deposit.
Astro has been undertaking drilling activity since October 2021 on four planned holes so as to review and confirm the geophysics works undertaken in January 2021. Results are expected in February/March 2022.
Astro is considering follow-up drilling in 2022, if its 2021 program proves successful. The 2022 program would include four holes to a notional depth of 500m (consisting of RC pre-collared holes to 200m and diamond tails to total depth), and two holes per section in a configuration and direction similar to holes 1 and 2 of the initial drilling program.
